1.       About us


The collapses of Somalia central Government 1991 has led to the migration of Somalia people to other parts of the coutry. The social economic and infrastructure collapsed, this has led the communities to the suffer, especially the Vulnerable groups such as women, children, Youth, Intellectuals and Elders. The predominant human development prompted the creation of numerous Integration while many junior youth filled the gap and involved in education levels activities. However, there is a immense need to build the capacity of these junior youth.

In consequence, we considered to intervene and dedicated to implement beneficial projects in Somalia to restore Somali youth’ rights and provide trainings to their capacity. After series of meetings, the founders realized that there is a gap that needs to be filled which is generally left out by most of Somali community, politicians and advocate to the rights of the Somali youth generation. Almost all Somali youth fled the country to the four winds of the globe, but the founders of this association are those who were trapped and remained in the capital since 1991.

The organization addresses another important issue of training the Somali young that has neglected during the anarchy and chaos in Somalia. IIDO is a youth led local humanitarian organization that supports and enables young people to create sustainable livelihood access basic education through programming in the areas of peace building, conflict resolution, GBV, livelihoods, arts & good governance. The organization also promotes, protects and advances young people’s human rights by building Leadership.

IIDO is empowering young people through access to information about services and rights. Such that they can build collective platforms to challenge and develop their leadership potential, politics and identity. We empower young people by supporting their work through positive and productive means. Therefore, IIDO organized ceremonial events for the international peace day in parts of Somalia and Somaliland. The events happened in several regions of Somalia and Somalilad to enable young people to engage with democracy, development and peace building.

2. Vision Statement

IIDO realizes an improved socio-economic condition of the target communities living with prosperity, self-reliance, sustainable peace, democracy and respect for human rights.

3. Mission Statement

IIDO is to enhance the living standard of Somali societies into self-reliance and prosperity through provision of relief, rehabilitation, development programs & strengthen the local capacities to address their issue of needs in a transparency and participatory approach.

4. What we do

4.1. Humanitarian assistance

        participate in humanitarian assistances to vulnerable communities in all operational areas).

4.2. Peace-building

        Conduct advocacy in peace building and human rights, hold workshops, rallies on peace building to ensure the community engages in peace building activities. IIDO will document all human rights abuses against youth, women and children in the database of IIDO’s Human Rights Archives.

4.3. Food security

        Provide support for maintaining of sustainable food sources for the poor in order to improve the lives of communities particularly women and children

4.4. Economic Developent

        to support the needy in economic development through the provision of skills training and development of infrastructure to enhance the ability of communities to produce goods and social services for their respective communities.

4.5. WASH

        IIDO provides agricultural support to farmer communities in order to enhance their livelihoods. IIDO also provides water and sanitation facilities to communities deprived of these basic services.

4.6. Education

        to provide initiative opportunities to the children aged 4-5 years, rehabilitate schools and basic primary education for children aged 6-12 years.

4.7. Governance

        to advocate, provide training in development, democracy and advancement of good governance in institutions and within communities.

4.8. Human rights of IDPs and People with Disabilities

        Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) and PWDs Protection and Resettlement: IIDO closely works with internally displaced persons (IDPs) and PwDs, addressing their basic protection needs such as food security, shelter, education health care and resettlement

4.9. Biodiversity Protection

IIDO is working on raising the awareness on biodiversity protection among the locals to make them understand the role biodiversity plays in a balanced ecology. IIDO is consulting with the youth in achieving health and sustainable environment with dignity jobs.
